success factors
An opt out approach, a seamless onboarding experience and diverse employee choice.
PEP was fortunate to be involved in establishing workplace giving in Australia. We have been acutely aware that a generous spirit and shared purpose have a profound effect on all business and team outcomes. As part of our workplace giving program, we continue to encourage high participation levels, selected common causes, and wide opportunity to express individual choice beyond that. We are delighted that the program has been recognised in this way and hope that it proves to be a helpful example and encouragement to others.

About Pacific Equity Partners
Pacific Equity Partners is the largest and most experienced Private Markets Fund Manager in Australia, committed to fostering a culture of philanthropy and social impact. The Challenge
Pacific Equity Partners, a leader in the private markets funds management sector,
recognised that their existing workplace giving program was underperforming. The
program was launched in 1998 and laid a strong foundation, by 2016, it became clear
there was an opportunity to improve employee engagement and participation. Given
its long history, the program was due for a thoughtful redesign to make it more
accessible, relevant, and engaging for employees.
The Solution
Pacific Equity Partners identified the need for a more inclusive and streamlined approach to workplace giving. After evaluating several options, they chose to revamp their existing program. The new workplace giving program featured an expanded list of charities, an 'Opt-Out' approach to encourage participation, and seamless onboarding integration. A notable engagement activity is when new charities are added to the program, they are invited to pitch their causes in the PEP office. This face-to-face interaction gives employees direct insights into the charities’ work, fostering a deeper connection and enhancing engagement with the program
Tina Lacomba, HR Officer at Pacific Equity Partners, noted, 'Pacific Equity Partner's workplace giving program has not only fostered a culture of giving but also enhanced employee engagement and retention by aligning with their values and offering a supportive, flexible giving experience.' This approach ensured that employees felt more connected to the causes they were supporting, thereby enhancing their overall engagement and satisfaction with the company.
The Results
The revamp of the workplace giving program proved to be a resounding success. By FY2024, the program achieved a 100% participation rate of all 86 employees, with an incredible total donation amount of $314,866. The number of charities receiving donations increased to 28, and the total donations saw a 10.5-fold increase compared to FY2016. These metrics underscore the program's significant impact on corporate philanthropy and employee engagement. The new approach not only benefited the charities but also aligned with the employees' values, fostering a more engaged and committed workforce.
